Need for speed – Underground
"Need for speed – Underground is a great game and a must buy for any racing game lover"
Need for speed, a well known name in gamers of all ages and one of the best racing game series game industry introduced for consoles and PC. From NFS 1 to NFS 6 – hot pursuit 2 this series was little generic – all those were high speed racing games with little to customize, but I am not saying those games are not good – those are awesome. When 2 first to furious movie came into the market – NFS was the first to adopt the racing system from that movie. Though many games like Street Racing Syndicate (SRS), Juiced tried to do the same thing but they went no where near NFS underground – 7th game of this series and most successful and revolutionary in many ways.
What makes underground so much different than other races – two things – addition of new race modes and deep car customizations option. Before underground car racing means racing with opponents while trying to finish in the top places, a little variation of this was knockout and time trial mode. And gamers were tired of playing same kinds of racing all time and in all games. Underground attracted new and old racing gamer by introducing three completely new modes – drift, drag, and sprint. I personal favorite is drift and drag. In drift mode you show your drift skill to collect points and in drag, which is absolutely intense and speedy racing, you change gear in timely manner to get maximum boost.
Daxter
"If buy only one game for your PSP, make sure this is the one"
Daxter, a cute, ottsel (otter + weasel) like character famous for being the side kick of Jak – lead character of popular Jak series. Developer Ready at Dawn thought why not gives this Daxter its very own game, so they made Daxter, a PSP game. I am glad that they did so, because Daxter is still one of the best games on PSP after 17 months of its initial release.
If you already familiar with Jak series on PS2, you will find this game very much known. But people who never played Jak like me, it’s a little bit came from nowhere situation – mainly because story wise this game falls between Jak 1 and Jak 2. So does that mean it’s not possible to enjoy Daxter without playing previous games, the answer is no, because I did and if you a gamer who has to know everything, do a Google search or wiki.
So as I was saying - this game is related with earlier games from Jak series. In the intro video, this game shows that Jak is captured by killzon guards and you, Daxter manage to flee. Yes, you guess right, freeing Jak from Baron’s prison is your goal in this game. But wait, how can you fight against mighty Baron. You can’t. So you need to become a bug exterminator! Doesn’t make any sense, but that is the only way to reach Jak.
Flatout
"This game will throw you out of the car"
Have you ever played Demolition Derby or Demolition Racer on PC, Burnout on consoles? If not you missed out one of the best parts of racing games. Flatout – game that made me a fan of destruction racing game came out on 2005. Though I have to agree with many gamers that burnout series is the best in this category but people like me who plays mainly pc games Flatout is the best choice for them.
So what makes Flatout different from other games? You can complete the single player portion of this game playing like traditional racing games but doing so you will miss the fundamental fun part of this game. The fun that you will get from hitting opponents cars, forcing them to hit various objects – can’t be expressed in words.
In this review I will only talk about single player portion because unfortunately I couldn’t play online – every time I tried to join a multiplayer game, it shows no player and hosting game doesn’t work because it need at least three players to play online game. I also tried Gamespy, but no result. But I know maximum eight players can play an online race.
